Abergavenny Arts Festival

There’s heaps going on at The Abergavenny Arts Festival and I’ll be there with the Made in Monmouthshire members on the Sunday 1st July for the very big Arts Fest in the Market Hall. I have 1 very big original on canvas, smaller originals on canvas and also framed, Sea Sprays on small wooden panels, limited edition giclee prints and finally Arty Scarves printed from original paintings.

There will also be art demos during the day and I’ll be showing how I do Sea Sprays – hope to see you there

Where dreams come true and new art

A new painting which I’ve named Where dreams come true. Really enjoyed working on this which has been in the making for some months along with a number of other paintings all themed around water in one way or another. Now that I have a new art studio, thank you to Bob for building it, I’ve got the space to be messy and not put anything away ūüôā

So this year I’m concentrating on painting in patterns and many translucent layers. I am a bit obsessed with water although not totally fixed on it as do enjoy trying to capture the tangle of wild flowers but I want to explore textures and abstract patterns that water and its many reflections create from the dapples above to the underwater world below.

From Amongst the Waves limited edition prints for sale

Amongst the Waves is a collection of paintings that are from being in and amongst the sea – well my abstract take on it anyway! ¬†This was painted on 640gms watercolour paper and I’m about to do a limited edition of prints as love the colours and as a print you can have small or a big one or an inbetweeny one, whatever suits! The original was painted with inks using many crazy techniques from throwing, pouring, flicking and blowing. ¬†I can print out on canvas or high quality cotton rag paper.

If you’re interested let me know – cheers Sally

Into the Light for John Butterworth

Into the light JB

Loved painting Into the Light and very pleased that it has a new home in Sydney, Australia – thank you Claudia¬†Sagripanti and John Butterworth. ¬†Into the Light is painted on 640gsm watercolour paper with inks and the light part I’ve used some iridescent inks so it kind of sparkles and shimmers when the light catches it!

Tropical close up

A close up of Tropical who as from Sunday 13th has a new home. ¬† Tropical is part of the little BIG garden collection. ¬†I loved painting this and have used impasto technique for the leaves and the flowers I used a watercolour ground to give them a very different effect and to top some of the flowers, I’ve added black lava and 23karat gold leaf.

Painted on a natural linen canvas using various techniques with acrylic, watercolours, iridescent inks, black lava and gold leaf. ¬†It’s quite a striking painting and sort of glows at the top when the light catches it. ¬†It’s 91.5cms x 91.5cms
