Golden Poppies, a commission

So this is pyrography art, which I have recently become fascinated with.  It started when I thought burning into wood would be pretty cool to create patterns for seedheads and I used my hubby’s soldering iron to see if I could get the desired effect.  And it worked, so I’ve now bought a pyrography tool kit and have been creating all sorts from little wooden plaques to christmas decorations to kids bumblebee bunting.

This piece was a commission of poppies and it sits in a space where the light reflects off the gold and copper leaf and iridescent inks.  I hope you like.

Description

A 60cm birchwood round.  I’ve burnt into the wood and then added gold and copper leaf as well as used iridescent inks in places.
