Abergavenny Food Festival and new round & oval limited edition collection

We were at the Abergavenny Food Festival again this year with Made in Monmouthshire in the Art Village. It’s a wonderful festival and of course art goes hand in hand with food & wine 😉

Apart from some big originals, Sea Sprays and Arty Scarves, I was showing some of the new round & oval artworks, which I’ve recently been working on. They’re limited edition giclee prints that I glue with a soft gel binding medium to a custom made birchwood rounded panel. I then varnish several times and add a copper trim around the edge and can also silver leaf the edge. Basically, I can offer any of my prints on these panels now and they’re ready to hang, look lovely, original and just that little bit different.

Please get in touch directly me@sallymills.gallery or further contact details are on the contact page and we can discuss sizes and then I can give you a quote. All the best for now – Sally

Open Art Studios trail 2018

Well that was brilliant fun and thanks to CRiC Oriel Gallery for organising such an excellent Open Art Studio Trail. There were 28 studios to visit in and around Crickhowell and Abergavenny — and this year Gilwern was on the map. I've taken part in Open Art Trails but in Australia so this was the first time in the UK. Bob has built me a beautiful Art Stiwdio up in the hills of Gilwern, South Wales so it's a special event for us.

Lots of art to see from really big works on canvas of waterways and reflections in my impressionistic and abstract way to close ups of waves on watercolour paper to Sea Sprays and wild flowers. We also had Arty Scarves, Art Cushions & Tote Bags and a new collection of greeting cards – all taken from prints of original art work.

Many thanks to everyone that visited us up in the Hills of Gilwern – we had a ball particularly at the Arty Party on Sunday x

Where Lillies Dream showing at Oriel CRiC Gallery

This is a close up of a couple of Lillies in the painting ‘Where Lillies Dream’ It’s part of the new black & white collection which I’m currently exploring and having lots of fun with. Black & White giclee print that I’ve hand embellished with inks, 24ct gold leaf and a little touch of pink and irridescent water sparkles 🙂

Where Lillies Dream amd Exotically Black are in the new Art Exhibition at Oriel CRiC Gallery, Crickhowell. It’s a really lovely Gallery and well worth a visit.

Shows August & September … Night Market, Art in Penallt, Abergavenny Food & Wine Festival

Got quite a bit going on… as part of Made in Monmouthshire, we have a shared Art & Craft stand at the popular Abergavenny Night Market on 17th August. Then 2nd and 3rd September, I’ll be at Art in Penallt. Not been there before but it’s a beautiful setting and I’ll be taking some of my original Sea Sprays and little gardens, a number of limited edition prints as well as Art Scarves, Arty Tote Bags and Cushions.

Later in September 16th and 17th I have a stand with Made in Monmouthshire at the Abergavenny Food & Wine Festival. I have been to that but not in an art capacity. It’s a major event and brings people from afar. Had a blast last year and thoroughly enjoyed sampling the cider! I’ll be there but selling art and arty merchandise this time.

Come say hello…

From Amongst the Waves limited edition prints for sale

cropped-IMG_20141010_080555-1.jpg

Amongst the Waves is a collection of paintings that are from being in and amongst the sea – well my abstract take on it anyway!  This was painted on 640gms watercolour paper and I’m about to do a limited edition of prints as love the colours and as a print you can have small or a big one or an inbetweeny one, whatever suits! The original was painted with inks using many crazy techniques from throwing, pouring, flicking and blowing.  I can print out on canvas or high quality cotton rag paper.

If you’re interested let me know – cheers Sally

Here it Comes sold at auction in support of research to cure cancer

Here It Comes

Very pleased that ‘Here it Comes’ a painting from ‘Amongst the Waves’ collection of art was sold at auction at a function on 8th April – part of the Cure de Tour that cycles and holds fundraising events to support research in helping to find a cure for cancer.  Really chuffed that it sold for $2,000.

Here is Comes is painted with a range of inks on 640gsm watercolour paper and is my abstract take on the tip of a wave as it starts to gain strength on it’s journey to shore.  It was framed in a floating white frame and looks very contemporary.

Tropical close up

A close up of Tropical who as from Sunday 13th has a new home.   Tropical is part of the little BIG garden collection.  I loved painting this and have used impasto technique for the leaves and the flowers I used a watercolour ground to give them a very different effect and to top some of the flowers, I’ve added black lava and 23karat gold leaf.

Painted on a natural linen canvas using various techniques with acrylic, watercolours, iridescent inks, black lava and gold leaf.  It’s quite a striking painting and sort of glows at the top when the light catches it.  It’s 91.5cms x 91.5cms

Buttercup Hill – a day for serenity and wishful thoughts

buttercup hill

Introducing Buttercup Hill who is waiting for more grasses, buttercups and dandelions to be painted at the top.

Buttercup Hill is a day for serenity and wishful thoughts as the buttercups sway in the breeze and summertime pollen floats in the air.  Buttercup is 91cms x 91cms on canvas – mixed media and will be making her debut at the September 2015 art exhibition, Breathing Colours Gallery, Balmain
