a Sunset in Yorkshire

This was a commission for some friends who have a converted barn and wanted a piece of art to sit high up on the wall above double glass doors that opened to a view across the fields.  They also had furniture/furnishings of blues and oranges.  It was an open brief but we thought they needed something big as it’s a big space to fill and came up with the idea of a large round, like a window looking out to the sky, so a Sunset in Yorkshire began.

Description

It’s a 1.2 meter diameter wooden round and painted in acrylics and inks with lots of ink runs, dry brushing and glazing going on and iridescent inks were added in gold, pearl white and a mauve/purple so they would shimmer and glow when certain light catches the painting.  Then a copper trim was added, which also catches certain light.  Happy days…
